Marston in Weston win double; EQUESTRIAN.

CLAIRE MARSTON was a double winner at the Weston Lawns Saracen Horse Feeds Dressage Championships, in Bulkington.

Claire, a member of the Stoneleigh Riding Club who is perhaps best known under her maiden name of Foley, was riding the five-year-old Dutch Warmblood horse Renkum Raphael, a winner at the British Riding Club Championships this year.

The pair scored the highest mark of the meeting when they topped their section of the Prelim 4 Championships on an impressive 72.72%, and went on to head the Novice 21 (a) test, beating Jocelyn Purchase and Home and Dry by just one mark.

Brinklow's Susan Bullock topped the Medium 63 Championship on her Irish cross Connemara horse Celtic Cross, now 16 but going as well as ever.

Elizabeth Saunders led the Elementary 41 test on the nine-year-old Criminal Law, who previously evented, and also won the best Under 21 award.

Amy Hazel scored 70% in her section of the Novice 21 Championship to win by a clear nine marks. She rode the 16.2hh Belgian Warmblood Class Act.

Amy, who is trained by Julie Yardley, now plans to develop her dressage career.

The Prelim 4 unaffiliated championship saw a two point win for Amanda Fletcher, who rode the six year old Belgian Warmblood horse Chino.

Amanda, a BHSII instructor, also competes successfully in show jumping.

The Walk and Trot test was topped by yet another Belgian Warmblood, the four-year-old Tenor.

Two riders shared second spot - local rider Emily Irving on her first horse Ted Hope, and Emily Gillman, who is in her first year of competition on her Dales pony Just Khan.
