Marriage assistance sum for differently abled to be increased.

Chennai, July. 3 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today ordered an increase in marriage assistance to differently abled people from Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000.

This followed Chief Minister's announcement in the state Assembly on May 15, during the debate on the demand for grants for the welfare department for differently abled people, an official press release here said.

While Rs 12,500 would be given in cash, the beneficiaries would be given the balance amount in the form of National Savings Certificates, it said.

To avail the assistance, one of the couples should be differently abled. There would be no minimum educational qualifications or income limit, it said.

A differently abled person can apply for the assistance with his/her National Identity Card for differently abled, the press release added.
