Marquette Electronics signs operating room technology agreement with North American Drager.

MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1995--Marquette Electronics announced the signing of a five-year agreement with North American Drager whereby North American Drager will purchase Marquette's proprietary signal acquisition technology for use in their anesthesia line of medical equipment.

Marquette's technology allows North American Drager's anesthesia workstation to acquire ECG, blood oximetry, blood pressure, as well as 12-lead ST segment analysis information from patients in the operating room. The circuit boards to be acquired from Marquette will enhance the capability and bring state-of-the-art technology to North American Drager's existing line of anesthesia and monitoring systems.

Marquette entered the operating room marketplace in 1988 with mass spectrometry gas analysis systems purchased from Perkin Elmer. Since then, Marquette has developed its own quadrupole mass spectrometry technology for the operating room, as well as for other potential industrial applications. A recent release in that product group called SAM (Smart Anesthesia Module), utilizes infrared technology in a module for gas analysis to be used with Marquette's operating room monitors.

According to Dominic Corsale, a Marquette marketing manager, the association between the companies is beneficial to mutual interests. "The agreement allows North American Drager to offer an enhanced anesthesia system to the health care community, while providing Marquette with a more visible presence in the OR marketplace" he said.

North American Drager of Telford, Pennsylvania is a worldwide leader in anesthesia system technology marketing the Narkomed Anesthesia Workstation, the Vitalert line of patient monitoring products, and the O.R. Data Manager .
