Byline: The Register-Guard

STEPHEN STONE and the Emerald City Jazz Kings will pay tribute to hitmakers Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart at 7:30 p.m. today at the John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts.

TAARKA fuses Eastern European Gypsy music with traditional American bluegrass and jazz, throwing in Celtic and Asian influences for good measure. The group will be the headliners the WOW Hall on Saturday. Eugene's own Sugarbeets and the Athens, Ga., world music duo Dromedary will open the show at 9 p.m.

NEW MOVIES

"The Fast Runner" and "Pumpkin" open today at the Bijou Art Cinemas.

"White Oleander" and "Brown Sugar" open today at Cinemark.

"The Transporter," "Knockaround Guys" and "The Rules of Attraction" open today at Cinemark and Cinema World.

Cinemark will have a sneak preview of "The Ring" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

ART SHOWS

Springfield Museum, reception for "A Sense of Place: Five Artists in the Landscape," works by Margaret Via, Marilyn Reaves, Madeleine Liepe, Charlene DeLage and Bets Cole, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., 590 Main St., Springfield. Admission is $2.
