Chiquita Brands International and vegetable processing company Seneca
Foods Corporation have announced that they have received regulatory
clearance to proceed with the previously announced sale of
Chiquita's vegetable canning subsidiary, Chiquita Processed Foods,
to Seneca. This results from the expiration of the 30-day waiting period
required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act. The
parties expect to close the sale during the second quarter upon
completion of Seneca's financing arrangements for the transaction.
