Marist teams sweep home track meet.

CORRECTION (ran 4/16/2005): The Siuslaw High School boys track and field team won a four-way meet at Marist on Thursday, defeating Marist, Pleasant Hill and La Pine. A story and headline on Page C6 on Friday had the incorrect winning team.

Eric Wood won the shot put with an effort of 54 feet, 2 inches and the discus with a throw of 155-8 to lead Marist to the team win in a four-team Sky-Em League prep boys track meet at Marist on Thursday.

Junction City won five events, including both relays, and used its depth to come away with a team victory in a four-team Sky-Em League meet at Elmira.

Girls track and field

Emily Gillespie and Kate Wilkins won two events apiece to lead host Marist to the team win in a four-team Sky-Em League meet.

Angela Rear captured both hurdles races to lead Junction City in a four-team Sky-Em League meet at Elmira.

Girls golf

Sheldon's Kendra Little shot a 76 to lead the Irish to third place at the seven-team Summit Invitational at Broken Top Golf Club. Little took second in the medalist competition.

Jacqueline Olsen shot 76 to take medalist honors and lead Sutherlin to the team win at the Oak Hill Invitational in Sutherlin.

Boys golf

Jesse Schutte shot a 70 to hold a four-stroke lead over Taft's Aaron Koch and lead Siuslaw to the first-day lead at the eight-team Siuslaw Invitational at Sandpines Golf Links.

The tournament concludes today at Ocean Dunes Golf Links.

Boys tennis

Brent Kingzett and Walt James won No. 1 doubles to pace host South Eugene to a 6-2 Midwestern League win over Springfield.

Shawn Recinos blanked his opponent in No. 3 singles to lead host Sheldon to a 7-1 Midwestern League win over Marshfield.

Chris Allen of North Eugene defeated Lebanon's Chris Meek 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 singles as the host Highlanders handed the Warriors a 5-3 Midwestern League defeat.

Stephen Weichert and Mathias Newell blanked their opponents in No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively, to lead Churchill to an 8-0 Midwestern League win over visiting Willamette.

Girls tennis

Devin Daugherty of South Eugene defeated Springfield's Elyse George 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles to lead the Axemen to a 6-2 Midwestern League win over the host Millers.

Carissa Lee and Stephanie Waples won No. 1 doubles to lead visiting Churchill to a 6-2 Midwestern League victory over Willamette.

Kelcy McKenna of North Bend blanked Thurston's Jessica Gorman in No. 1 singles as the Bulldogs and Colts fought to a 4-4 nonleague tie.

Divnit Kaur won No. 1 singles to lead Marist to a 5-3 District 2 victory over host Junction City.

Lacrosse

Zach Dehnert scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead Sheldon to an 11-1 Willamette South League win over Thurston.
