MarineMax Adds Hatteras Yachts to Product Offering.

CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1998--MarineMax, Inc. (NYSE:HZO), the nation's largest recreational boat retailer, announced today that it will be adding Hatteras Yachts to its product offering.

Effective October 17, 1998, MarineMax will represent Hatteras Yachts, a Genmar Company, throughout the state of Florida, excluding the panhandle. The addition to the MarineMax product line provides customers an option when seeking convertibles and motor yachts.

"The luxury yacht market has grown steadily over the past five to seven years. MarineMax had the opportunity to select a product line that would complement and not cannibalize our current offering of Sea Ray products," said Bill McGill, Chairman and CEO of MarineMax, Inc. "Hatteras is much celebrated for attention to detail, and we feel it is the perfect match for our customers migrating in their quest for larger convertibles and motor yachts. Hatteras will provide our customers the quality to which they have become accustomed."

MarineMax is committed to supporting Hatteras products of 50 feet to 130 feet through a dedicated staff of factory trained consultants. In addition, MarineMax will represent Hatteras at regional and local boat shows, fishing tournaments and special events by Bassett Boat Company on Florida's East Coast and Gulfwind Marine on the West Coast.

Irwin L. Jacobs, Chairman of Genmar Holdings, Inc., stated "Both Genmar and Hatteras are extremely impressed with the MarineMax organization and believe they are uniquely positioned to represent the Hatteras product line. The MarineMax organization is committed, as is Hatteras, to providing their customers with the optimal boating experience that today's sophisticated customers demand. We believe MarineMax represents one of the most professional and innovative dealer organizations in the world and we look forward with great excitement to our mutual market development efforts."

"This affiliation with MarineMax reaffirms our commitment to serve our customer base through a strong and progressive dealer network," added, Bill Naumann, President/CEO, Genmar Yachts and Hatteras. "MarineMax, through its philosophy of "Delivering the Dream" will strengthen our position in the largest boating market in the United States."
