Marcus Theatres and Ameritech Introduce First Free Major Paging Service in the Midwest

Moviegoers Encouraged to 'Escape and Enjoy While Staying Connected'

MILWAUKEE, Wis., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameritech Cellular and Paging Services of Wisconsin and Marcus Theatres Corporation, a division of the Milwaukee-based Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced the first free major paging service for moviegoers in the Midwest. The "Escape and Enjoy While Staying Connected" paging convenience service will debut in 36 Marcus Theaters throughout Wisconsin and Illinois beginning Nov. 25.

With 266 movie screens, Marcus Theatres is the 20th largest theatre operator in the United States and the largest in Wisconsin. By May, 1997, 40 additional screens will be in operation, giving Marcus Theatres more than 300 screens.

"This is an exciting service for consumers. With Ameritech's paging convenience and Marcus' Spotlight Services, moviegoers can have peace of mind, enjoy the show and still be reachable in case of an emergency," said Chuck Bale, Ameritech vice president.

To stay connected, moviegoers simply stop by the Spotlight Service Communication Center located in participating Marcus Theatres and request an Ameritech Pager and an Emergency Notification Card. Patrons can then call their family, babysitter or colleagues, relay their pager number and sit back and enjoy the movie.

"The Marcus Corporation has an unflagging commitment to superior guest service and offers a unique combination of amenities for moviegoers. We're confident this paging convenience service will enhance our commitment to exceeding our customers' expectations and offering the best moviegoing experience available anywhere," said Bruce J. Olson, president of Marcus Theatres Corporation.

Ameritech's partnership with Marcus Theatres marks the company's first major movie theatre paging convenience service for consumers. Ameritech has successfully offered similar free paging services for patrons during Brewers baseball games.

Headquartered in Milwaukee, The Marcus Corporation also operates and franchises 129 Budgetel Inns in 28 states and three Woodfield Suites in Wisconsin and Colorado; three hotels in Wisconsin and one in Minnesota; the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; and 31 KFC restaurants in Wisconsin.

A worldwide leader in making communications easy, Ameritech (NYSE: AIT) serves millions of customers in 50 states and 40 countries. Ameritech provides a full range of communications services, including local and long distance telephone, cellular paging, security monitoring, cable TV, electronic commerce, on-line services and more. One of the world's 100 largest companies, Ameritech (www.ameritech.com) has 67,000 employees, 1 million shareowners and $23 billion in assets.
