March against murder.
On a ninety-five-degree day, more than 200 people gathered at the corner of Center and 27th streets for a rally against violence. The July 9 gathering was the fourth biweekly rally organized by the Campaign Against Violence, which is concerned about the recent rise in the number of homicides in the city of Milwaukee. By July 25, Milwaukee had had seventy-five homicides in 2005, a 50 percent increase over last year at this time.
