March's taxable removals up 3.1%

Total taxable removals in March were 15.88 million barrels, which was 3.1-percent more than last year's total of 15.41 million. The total for the first three months of 1990 was 43.53 million barrels, or 2.0-percent more than the corresponding period in 1989.

Nine of the 17 states and combination groupings showed increases in March with Arizona, Hawaii, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Montana, Nevada and New Mexico reporting the largest increase; 204,308 barrels. The largest decrease was slated in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland and South Carolina; 136,087 barrels.

All of the four geographical regions notched increases, led by the Mountain, Pacific and West North Central region; 5.2 percent. The smallest increase was recorded in the South Atlantic-East & West South Central region; 1.6 percent.
