Marathon for elderly held.

Bahrain: A Marathon for the elderly was held yesterday at Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park in Hidd marking World Health Day.

Organised by the Islamic Society, the event was patronised by Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan. He stated that ministry surveyed a sample comprising 3,000 elderly men and women to measure the quality of services, reveal shortcomings and promote their integration into society. Society chairman Dr Shaikh Abdullatif Mahmoud Al Mahmoud said that the society takes care of 131 elders at a cost of BD224,000. The marathon attracted day care clubs, elderly care homes, productive families and citizens.
