Marathon RV stolen; 6 suspects arrested.

Byline: Bill Bishop The Register-Guard

Vehicle theft took on a new scale in Coburg early Thursday when a man jumped a fence at the Marathon Motor Coach plant and drove away in a used bus conversion motor home worth more than $500,000.

Police arrested six suspects a few hours later as they were stripping televisions and other parts from the motor home while riding through the streets of Eugene, Coburg Police Chief Mike Hudson said.

Officers found the missing bus after residents in the River Road area reported suspicious people attempting to sell parts from the bus while parked in their neighborhood. A Coburg officer cruised the area and spotted the bus rolling along West Seventh Avenue.

Officers from Eugene, the Oregon State Police and the sheriff's office joined him in stopping the bus at a state motor vehicle office at West 10th Place and Tyinn St.

Police charged 54-year-old transient Donald Arthur Hale with vehicle theft. They arrested the five other occupants of the bus after finding narcotics and discovering that several were on probation for other crimes, Hudson said.

Also arrested were: Lisa Ann Dunn, 31, Josh James Miller, 18, and Reva Myiome Wanstrath, 22, all of Eugene, and Rudolpho Villa Camarillo Jr., 21, of Albany. A juvenile was arrested but the name was not released because of the suspect's age.
