Many worksites are becoming death traps.

This refers to 'Worker killed in freak accident' (GDN, September 20).

My heart sank as I read the tragic end of a worker at a worksite. Some worksites are death traps given the number of fatal accidents, obviously due to lack of safety measures.

The worksite has become a death trap because hardly a day goes by without the loss of human lives.

I have a straight question that needs a straight answer from authorities: why and how do deaths occur if all safety precautions are in place? Briefly, all because of a blind approach to prevention!

Workers are generally ignorant of the potential dangers that lurk around them. The supervisors have to brief them daily before they start work if they are vulnerable to great risk.

No doubt, accidents happen even in a well-regulated place, but most are the result of the 'live each day as it comes' attitude.

We know life is fragile, but that can't necessarily be a reason to bring one's death date forward.
