Many children missing after African boat capsizes.

Summary: Hundreds of people are still missing after the accident off the coast of Sierra Leone on Wednesday.

More than 200 people, including many schoolchildren, are still missing after a wooden boat capsized at sea off the coast of Sierra Leone.

Police say eight people are known to have died, while some 39 passengers have been rescued so far.

The youngsters onboard were returning from holiday when tragedy struck.

Sierra Leone is in the middle of its rainy season with persistent and heavy storms affecting both land and sea.

Boat accidents are common in West Africa, where road systems are poor and many people rely on watercraft for transport.
