AWELSH manufacturer is celebrating export success for its ultrasonic cleaning technology, breaking into major new international markets including Australia, Singapore and Eastern Europe.

Ultrawave, whose ultrasonic baths and systems are used to clean components in a wide range of sectors, from healthcare to aerospace, and medical device manufacture to Formula 1 motor racing, is reporting a doubling of export sales over the past 18 months.

According to the Cardiff-based company, exports have increased from just over 6% in 2013 to 13% in the first half of 2014. The company is building on its traditional overseas markets of Ireland, Scandinavia and Benelux with a number of new export markets coming on stream.

Chris Czyrko, sales and marketing manager of Ultrawave said: "Our export sales are extremely buoyant and growing significantly, led by our Hygea range of ultrasonic cleaners used in dental practices and central sterilisation supply departments in hospitals which are a particular hit in Australia.

"We believe our growing popularity in Eastern Europe and the Far East again is helped by Britain's worldwide reputation for excellence in engineering and manufacturing quality." Having produced and supplied over 50,000 Ultrasonic cleaning systems since 1990, Ultrawave will be celebrating its 25th anniversary next year.

Mr Czyrko added: "Our customised systems are used in the Middle East, America, Mexico and the Sudan. We are currently developing more Ultrawave distributors overseas and longer term we are looking at options in America and beyond."

Ultrawave products utilise transducers which convert electrical energy into high frequency sound waves creating ultrasonic energy. When transferred through a liquid medium, this energy causes rapid formation and collapse of minute bubbles known as cavitation, creating a scrubbing brush type action within the liquid.

A spokesman for the business said: "Ultrawave's product portfolio has expanded over the years and today we can offer solutions to every cleaning requirement.

"From an individual at home cleaning their coin or medal collection to a multinational company in the medical device manufacturing industry, Ultrawave ultrasonic cleaners can meet your need.

"Our ultrasonic cleaners are widely acknowledged as being superior in both quality and performance while offering excellent value for money and a full warranty and service backup."
