Barcelona have reportedly registered their interest in Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.
The Brazilian has attracted interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City with the former believed to have moved ahead of their rivals in the race to sign the 25-year-old.
Fred will be part of Brazil's squad for this summer's World Cup but be on the move shortly after.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will be monitoring his progress.
They claim that City have already made an offer of [pounds sterling]40million but that no deal has been agreed.
The Spanish newspaper also believes Fred could be prised from the Ukrainian side for around [pounds sterling]10m less.
Manchester United will reportedly make their first signing of the summer after this weekend's FA Cup final.
United take on Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday evening as Jose Mourinho bids to sign off from the season with a piece of silverware.
And the club could announce the signing of Juventus left-back Alex Sandro for around [pounds sterling]50million, according to The Times .
The 27-year-old has long been a target for United who look to have beaten Chelsea to the Brazilian's signature.
Juventus are resigned to the player leaving having secured their seventh successive Serie A title last weekend.
United have struggled to fill the left-back slot with Luke Shaw falling out of favour with Mourinho and Ashley Young dropping back from midfield.
