Manager of private TV channel released.

Abdul shakur Dadras, member of media violation commission told Pajhwok Afghan News on Monday that Kudamani was arrested due to broadcasting vulgar songs and films.

Kudamani and the producer of the TV programme was arrested a month back. Dadras said that the commission summoned Kudamani twice and was advised not to broadcast such songs and movies, but he did not accept and was introduced to attorney by the commission.

Fazl Ahmad Faqiryar, deputy Attorney General said Kudamani confessed the crime and was released on Sunday after warrant. He said the file of Kudamani was in Kabul public security court and the decision will be made by court.

Ahmad Fahim Kudamni, Manager of Imroz TV told Pajhwok Afghan News that there have not been clear indications about the broadcasting of Indian movies and other songs in the publication law. He said that such movies and songs were also being broadcasted by other TV channels.

But he considered broadcasting such movies and songs forbidden and said that he will make efforts to broadcast programmes in Imroz TV which are not against Islamic principles.

Dadras said that there has not been any particular article in the publication law, but there are some rules based on which any disturbance and violence in the community could be investigated.

Without giving more details Dadras said that other TV channel officials operating in the country were introduced to attorney who is broadcasting vulgar movies and songs.

However Faqiryar said that they did not receive any letter about other TV channels from the commission. Ihsanullah Arianzai, South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) head in Afghanistan said if Kudamani has confessed his crime, then he should be punished according to the law.

But IFJ welcomed the release of Kudamani and considered it a positive action. The IFJ in a press release stated that detention of a journalist without a strong reason was not acceptable for them. Abdul Qadir Saddiqi
