HIGH-DENSITY, SNMP-MANAGED MEDIA CONVERSION. The chassis-based PowerBlade system delivers modular, multi-protocol multimedia solutions to high-density media conversion in service-provider applications and enterprise LANs. Designed for NEBS compliance and featuring an 18-slot technology-independent chassis/blade architecture that allows for a wide range of LAN media interfaces, the PowerBlade system allows new technologies to be quickly integrated into network designs. Initial blades cover Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet media and speed conversion. PowerBlade can be operated either as an unmanaged chassis or as a fully manageable system through the addition of the SNMP-management module. This module allows configuration via a GUI interface, as well as monitoring all cable connections. Additionally, the management module monitors the operation of the fans and the internal chassis temperature, and will notify users of potential faults before they become serious enough to disrupt operation. Designed for maximum redundancy, the system supports hot-swappable media blades for zero downtime, and can accommodate an optional redundant AC power supply.--Allied Telesyn
