Man set on by baseball batwielding gang.

A MAN was left with a fractured collar bone after he was set on by a gang wielding baseball bats.

It happened on Friday at 11pm outside the Red Duster Pub, Whiteleas Way in South Shields.

The 27-year-old victim, who was drinking in the pub, was set on as he left.

The attack follows an earlier disturbance inside the pub involving a number of people.

Officers believe a number of people were involved in the assault and the earlier disturbance and are appealing for them to come forward.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment where medics confirmed he had a fractured collar bone.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
