A MAN is fighting for his life after he suffered 90% burns in a blaze that trapped him in his home. Neighbours told of their desperate fight to save Paul Valentine, 39, after hearing his shouts for help as fire ripped through his end terrace house in Wrexham. They smashed a window and kicked in the front door, but the heat was too intense for them to get inside. But the smoke was too thick and the heat too intense to get inside. It was firefighters who eventually pulled him out.

Neighbour Sarah Sims had said her brother-in-law Miley Berry, 17, had initially believed a shed was ablaze but then discovered it was the house and that someone was trapped inside.

A North Wales Fire Service spokesman said Mr Valentine had died yesterday. At the time a spokesman said the cause of the blaze was unknown but it was not being treated as suspicious.
