A shocking incident outside a pub saw a man brawl with doormen, before being punched and kicked in the head.

The reveller had already been ejected from the pub in Lichfield, Staffordshire, and had returned to enact "revenge" on the doorman, the pub claimed.

Incredibly a crowd watches on laughing and egging on the bouncers and roister, as they brawl in the street.

The nasty altercation, which was captured on a mobile phone and has been distributed on social media, took place in Market Street early on Sunday morning outside The Scales pub.

The man can be seen taunting the door staff before the trio square-off, theBirmingham Mail reports.

A punch knocks the alleged provocateur down, before he is then kicked in the head and punched as he lays on the ground.

A spokesman for The Scales said: "Regarding the video circulating social media of one of our doorman hitting a punter - the individual had been ejected from the site and returned to make a revenge attack on our guards.

"A metal A-board was thrown at our door team hitting one of our guards in the head.

"This lead to the incident in the video.

"We do not condone violence in any way regardless of its direction.

"A full investigation is underway and we're awaiting a statement from the security company."

Later today (Monday) The Scales said the staff in question have been removed from the door on both The Scales and another city venue 55 Wade Street, the pub said.

"The video footage is with the police and we are assisting them with developments," the spokesman added.

"The SIA (Security Industry Authority) have been informed and are investigating the matter."
