Man jailed for bringing terror to his neighbour.

A MAN who broke into a neighbour's home has been jailed for six months.

Alan Williams, 21, disturbed a 44-year-old disabled woman during the burglary, Liverpool crown court heard.

Fiona McKervey, prosecuting, told the court Williams broke into the house in Alderson Road, Wavertree, during the early hours of September 6 last year.

She said the disabled woman, who has a mental age of six, awoke to find him in her bedroom. Williams ran out of the house, taking a small amount of costume jewellery from the hall as he went, the court heard.

Williams, also of Alderson Road, Wavertree, pleaded guilty to burglary. Zia Chaudhry, defending, said: "He is very regretful of the distress he caused to that particular victim."

Sentencing Williams, Judge Charles James told him: "Those who go into other people's houses and steal almost always go to prison."
