Man in world bid; CHALLENGE.

A cyclist has taken a step closer to his round the world bike challenge as he heads for the Paris start line.

Mark Beaumont, 24, hopes to set a new record by cycling 18,000 miles around the globe in seven months in the Artemis World Cycle Challenge.

The current record for circumnavigating the globe by bike is 276 days, 19 hours and 15 minutes, but Mr Beaumont hopes to slash that to just 210 days.

He will pass through 20 countries during the epic journey on a route including Pakistan and the US.
