Man in court over teen girl blackmail photo threat.

A manhas been arrested for allegedlythreatening to publish private pictures of a teenage girl unless she gave him money or had sex with him.

Ras Al Khaimah Police detained the Arab man after the 18-year-old said say she was being blackmailed.

Officers said the pair met online before becoming friends and meeting in person on several occasions.

The man, who is in his twenties, allegedly got hold of the pictures after tricking her into letting him borrow her laptop. The images showed her sitting with the older man without her veil on. Publishing the pictures would have caused embarrassment to her family.

Abdullah Al Mazroui, head of the community police section at RAKCePolice, said: "He told her his computer had aproblem and asked if he could finish some work on her laptop."

He said the teenager had her laptopformatted at a computer shop and deleted all pictures and private information before she handed it over.

But the man allegedly had the pictures restored using software given to him by a friend who is an IT specialist.

Al Mazroui said: "At first, the girl washesitant to report the matter to police. But after a while, she decided to seek help from the community police and we saved her from the blackmailer."

The case has been referred to prosecutors.
