Man held after tip-off.

A SUSPECTED senior gangland figure was arrested after police uncovered an arsenal of weapons and drugs in his Liverpool home. Officers raided the house in Northumberland Terrace, Everton, on Tuesday night after a tip-off that it was being used as a base to deal drugs.

They found 20 swords, CS gas, a laser stun gun, imitation pistol, pounds 20, 000 of amphetamine, and a box of mobile phones. A 36-year-old man was being questioned yesterday.

Police neighbourhood inspector for Everton, Mark Harrison, said: ``This raid came after a very good piece of intelligence from a member of the public. ``They told us what they thought was going on and we acted upon that information.

``We are doing everything possible to make the lives of people in the area better. ''

Police in Everton have been working closely with locals after a gangland feud, centred in the Grizedale estate, claimed the lives of three people. It is not yet known if the latest arrest is linked to that gang war.
