Man gets prison term for kidnapping, raping Japanese students.
The Spokane County Superior Court in the U.S. state of Washington on Tuesday sentenced a 38-year-old man to 25 years in prison for kidnapping and raping three Japanese college students last November.
David Dailey, who pleaded guilty, was charged with three counts of kidnapping and one count of rape for abducting and sexually assaulting the three women, who were studying at the Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute in Spokane.
Dailey also admitted attempting to kidnap and assault two other Japanese women enrolled at Eastern Washington University with stun guns last October.
After the sentencing, Kevin Curtis, the attorney for the Mukogawa students, said, ''We are satisfied with the court decision.''
The sentencing for one of the two other co-defendants, Edmund Ball III, 40, was delayed because he initially pleaded guilty, but his lawyers later asked to change his plea.
Ball's hearing is now scheduled for Aug. 16.
Lana Vickery, another co-defendant who pleaded guilty, began serving her nearly 16-year sentence in June.
Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute is a branch of Mukogawa Women's University near Kobe.
