Man charged with raping dog walker in park.

A MAN has made his first appearance at Crown Court charged with raping a woman in a popular city park.

Stephen Ord, 36, is alleged to have carried out the sex attack on the 59- year- old woman as she walked her dog. The woman was in Calderstones Park, at about 8.10am on April 11, when she was molested.

Ord, of Acuba Road, Wavertree, is also charged with committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence and driving with excess alcohol.

He is alleged to have assaulted a 77-year-old woman as she walked out of Northway Park, towards Beechtree Road, Wavertree, on March 30..

Ord, whose long, dark hair was tied back in a ponytail, spoke only to confirm his name when he appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via videolink from Liverpool prison.

He did not enter any pleas..

Judge David Swift remanded the accused in custody until June 25, when a plea and case management hearing will be held.

A trial date was set for June 25, with a four-day estimate..
