Byline: By SARAH CHAPMAN

A MAN bit his ex-lover on the face during a six-month campaign of hate.

Andrew Whitehead, 32, mounted repeated attacks against Louise Watson as he stalked her after their break-up.

Liverpool crown court heard Whitehead's reign of terror included Biting her nose, lips and cheek. n Punching her face. n Trying to strangle her. n Trying to drag her off a moving bus. Graham Pickavance, prosecuting, the offences against Ms Watson started when he threw her on the floor and tried to strangle her.

She went to live at a Toxteth women's refuge for victims of domestic violence but Whitehead tracked her down, punched her and bit her nose.

On another occasion, Whitehead tried to drag Miss Watson off a bus.

In April, Whitehead saw Miss Watson in Smithdown Road and asked her to get into a car.

Mr Pickavance said: "The defendant appeared drunk. He put his hands around her throat and tried to strangle her. He bit her chin and lip."

Whitehead, of no fixed address, admitted five charges of common assault, three of driving while disqualified, one of theft, damaging property and aggravated vehicle taking.

Jailing him for three years, Recorder Craig Sephton QC also placed a seven-year restraining order on Whitehead preventing him from contacting Miss Watson and banned him from driving for five years
