Man's body is found by police inside house.

A MAN'S body was found inside a Birkenhead house by police.

Officers were called fficers to an address in Clifton Road yesterday afternoon to reports of concern for the safety of a man living there.

police attended at around 3pm and found the body of a man, believed to be in his 50s, inside.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death, but Merseyside police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

Residents on Clifton Road had reported seeing several police cars and a van arrive at the house, believed to have been converted into flats.

Forensics teams later arrived on the street and could be seen going in and out of the property.

One nearby resident said: "You never see anything going on down here so when I saw all the police around, you want to know what's happening."

A force spokesman said: "The man's next of kin are still in the process of being traced and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the cause of his death.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course."
