Malwarebytes Acquires Adware Removal Tool AdwCleaner.
20 October 2016 - California-based malware prevention and remediation company Malwarebytes has acquired adware removal tool AdwCleaner, the company said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
For the near term, AdwCleaner will retain its current name, supplemented by Malwarebytes branding. Malwarebytes is committed to maintaining the mission of the AdwCleaner product and its features.
Malwarebytes protects consumers and businesses against dangerous threats such as malware, ransomware, and exploits that escape detection by traditional antivirus solutions. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is the company's flagship product.
Founded in 2008, the company is headquartered in California with offices in Europe, and a global team of researchers and experts.
AdwCleaner scans your computer and efficiently removes Adware (ads softwares), PUP/LPI (Potentially Undesirable Program), Toolbars, Hijacker (Hijack of the browser's homepage).
It also features anti adware host that will help to prevent advertising software from installing on your machine. It works with a Search and Delete mode.
