Malik Qayyum and Sharifuddin Pirzada synonymous as anti-democratic conspirators: Aitizaz.
ISLAMABAD, 20 March , 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- former president SCBA, Chaudhry Aitizaz Ahsan has berated Malik Qayyum and Sharif Uddin Pirzada for become synonymous to anti-democratic forces in the Country. Addressing the luncheon hosted by trader community of Aabpara Market of Islamabad, he thanked the traders for supporting the lawyers movement, and said that it yielded one of the most unexpected results ever. He reminisced that during the course of the movement, he was hooted by many for trying the most impossible of endeavours, but he did not loose heart and carried on his hectic efforts, which culminated in the reinstatement of Judiciary. He cautioned that the picture was not that rosy and he smelled a deep instance of many conspiracies against the reinstated Judiciary, many of which had however diminished, and the rest would be strongly resisted, expressing his satisfaction that for the first time ever a CJ (Abdul Hameed Dogar) silently exited without the usual fuss of a stay order. He also announced to visualize the dream of late Benazir Bhutto to hoist National flag over the house of CJ, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, alongwith Dr. Israr Shah. Meanwhile in an interview with Private TV Channel, he expressed that since Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was not a part of any bench dealing with NRO, it would not be advisable for him to review the case anyway. Referring to the legal situation of Punjab Government, he said that if 30 members of forward block vote in favour of Shahbaz Sharif, than PML-Q had a legal right to challenge their eligibility through a petition; however nothing can stop them from exercising their right of vote anyway. Besides even if the Court rules against the forward block, the process would still take almost six months, after which the verdict could be challenged in the Supreme Court, which however could never terminate PML-N government in Punjab he opined. He said that despite having its (PML-N) 30 members being disqualified, the PML-N still stood to win easily in a house of 371.
