Maldini bribe rap.

ITALIAN football hero Paolo Maldini has been accused of bribing a tax worker.

The former AC Milan defender is facing charges of paying off the official to avoid inspections on a real estate company he was setting up with his wife, ex-model Adriana Fossa.

Maldini, 42, is said to have paid Luciano Bressi pounds 34,000 in annual fees as well as "off the book" payments of pounds 156,000.

It's claimed Maldini - who retired from football two years ago - wanted to gain access to internal revenue computers.

Maldini played for Milan for 25 years, winning seven Serie A titles and five European Cup/ Champions League trophies.

He played for Italy for 14 years with a record 126 caps.
