Malaysian best-practice award.

CIMA's Malaysia division, in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), is organising a National Award for Management Accounting (NAfMA) Best Practice. This is intended to promote the use of management accountancy and to recognise best practice by local and multinational organisations, Two other partners are involved--the CIMA-UiTM Asian Management Accounting Research Centre and the National Productivity Corporation--while Public Bank Berhad is the main sponsor. NAfMA has three categories:

* The excellence award. The top accolade for best practice in management accounting.

* The best practice award. For the firm that fully implements management accounting systems that set new standards or introduce innovations.

* The practice solution award. For the firm that applies the most effective management accounting systems or techniques that have had a positive impact on daily practice.

NAfMA is open to firms listed under Bursa Malaysia as well as multinational firms operating in Malaysia. Applications will be on a voluntary basis, as disclosure of management accounting practices within the company will be required for evaluation by the assessment committee. The companies must also have been profitable for the past three financial years. The deadline for applications is 25 June. Interested firms can request more details from the organising committee at nafma@cimaglobal.com or nafma@mia.org.my.
