Make sure you're ready for towing.

THE Highways Agency in the West Midlands is urging motorists to make sure they are fit to tow before they go on holiday.

Caravans, trailers and horseboxes shouldn't be towed without a proper maintenance check.

That's the safety message after the Highways Agency in the West Midlands noticed a significant increase in the number of trailer-related incidents on motorways and other main roads over the last year.

Stephen Edwards, regional network performance manager, said: "We are urging road users not to take their caravan, trailer or horse box out on the road without a maintenance check, especially if it has been left standing for most of the year.

"You could avoid breaking down and delaying not only your journey but other road users as well."
