Make call & take action to save her.

Byline: CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN

THE world has been shaken by the news a Sudanese woman who refuses to renounce her Christian faith now faces the hangman's noose.

Meriam Ibrahim, who gave birth to a girl this week while in jail, was convicted by a Shariah court in Khartoum earlier this month and is due to be executed now that her baby has been born.

The 27-year-old doctor, whose father was Muslim but was raised as a Christian by her mother, was convicted of apostasy and adultery after refusing to renounce her faith during a four-day "grace period" while she was eight months pregnant.

Before being sent to the gallows she will be publicly flogged with 100 lashes.

Her husband, Daniel Wani, is an American citizen, and some US politicians have called for granting her asylum here.

So far the embassies in the US, Britain, Holland and Canada have simply called on Sudan to respect her right to change her faith.

Isn't a life worth more than a mere "call"?
