Major pipeline safety seminar.

One of the biggest safety events of its kind is to take place on Teesside.

The UK Pipeline Safety Seminar has been organised by utilities and services provider SembCorp Utilities UK.

Speakers include representatives from the British Standards Institute, the Health and Safety Executive, the United Kingdom Onshore Pipelines Association, the Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers, and the Pipeline Industry Guild.

The seminar is to be held at the Phoenix Centre on the Wilton International site on September 20 and 100 delegates are expected.

Paul Docherty, mechanical engineering manager at SembUtilities Solutions, who has organised the conference, said: "It is one of the biggest events relating to safety for the onshore pipeline industry in the UK this year."

The seminar precedes a two-day UKOPA conference, also being held at the Phoenix Centre, on September 21 and 22.
