Major Manufacturer of Remote Deposit Capture Equipment Partners With BLM Technologies to Meet Increased Demand for Check 21 Solutions.

LAS VEGAS -- Minneapolis-based BLM Technologies, Inc., a single source provider of technology consulting and branch automation solutions and services for the retail banking industry, and Dayton, Ohio-based Panini North America, a provider of check processing solutions, announced at the Bank Administration Institute (BAI) Retail Delivery Conference & Expo 2006 that they have joined together to provide financial institutions seeking to enter or expand their presence in the remote deposit capture market with scanning technology which will facilitate the process. BLM is distributing Panini's My Vision X([R]) check scanning device and providing fulfillment that includes hardware, software, middleware, online order and status, and even a financing option.

"There is a great deal of demand for the My Vision X as a result of the Check 21 legislation," said Dave Youngerman, president of Panini North America. "Right now, Check 21 is big in the corporate remote capture environment. Next year, we see branch capture as well as retail back office conversion increasing. Due to the popularity of, and increased need for, check scanners, it's great that BLM can stock and distribute them as part of a fulfillment package. BLM has an excellent reputation in the industry, and we our pleased to be working with them."

Industry statistics show that a steepening image exchange curve is expected over the next five years. Recent studies also predict more sophisticated clearing and settlement systems, traditional Day 2 operations blending into Day 1, and an industry-wide push for "Image on Demand."

"The BLM sales force has been quick to understand the technology and the needs of their customer base, and have responded with solid solutions for them," said Youngerman. "They have a solid team of sales, service and support personnel, and have a good understanding of the business opportunities and solutions."

"Banks and credit unions are requesting this remote deposit capture technology at a amazing rate," said Ron Meinhardt, president of BLM Technologies. "With our nationwide presence, we are in a position to help Panini reach these forward-thinking financial institutions that are looking to take advantage of the efficiencies, cost savings, and improved level of customer service that Check 21 provides."

Youngerman cited a number of advantages that remote deposit capture brings to financial institutions. "The imaging of checks and associated documents allows a number of processes to be changed, including the electronic and digital presentation of items for deposits bank to bank, commercial customer to bank and bank to clearing house," he said. "This device, with corresponding software, allows us to be a dominant player in the Check 21 market and to assist financial institutions, merchants and commercial customers to make deposits and move checks electronically. Deposits do not have to be transported to the bank every day because end users are scanning them directly from their office," he said. "Our solution provides the opportunity for decreased operations costs and increased availability, and this technology eliminates brick and mortar limitations."

As a small footprint check scanner, the My Vision X reads the check MICR line, captures a front and back image of the check and prints customized endorsement information. Standard features of the product include a patent-pending three-mode feeder, MICR Plus[TM] technology, rear ink jet printer, a USB 2 interface providing plug and play capability, a 100 document feeder and the front and rear image capture of up to four images at 200 dpi.

"Superior image quality, MICR read rates, document handling and device reliability are key to the remote deposit capture environment," said Youngerman. "The My Vision X allows the end-user to perform at this level with very little training."

Panini's My Vision X addressed the complete range of distributed check processing applications including teller capture, back office operations, merchant locations or cash vault. The device scalability allows financial institutions greater flexibility in determining positioning for the device and investment protection should their needs change.
