Mainsoft to ship Visual SourceSafe for UNIX.

Corporation, provider of cross-platform development tools with true Windows API (application programming interface) compliance, has announced it will ship Visual SourceSafe 4.0 for UNIX by the end of February. Pricing is per named user, per UNIX platform, and starts at $500.

Visual SourceSafe 4.0 for UNIX is a multiplatform, project-oriented version control system compatible with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe for the PC and Mac platforms. Unlike other version control utilities available on UNIX, Visual SourceSafe for UNIX features: -0-

-- an intuitive graphical user interface, providing the full power of Microsoft Windows

-- easy drag and drop operations for file sharing and project configuration

-- visual file and project difference displays for side-by-side comparisons

-- custom-configurable options for personalized user environments

-- central code repository for easy back-up and restore -0-

Visual SourceSafe for UNIX provides complete multiplatform support for programming teams, such as MainWin developers, that support code across PC and UNIX platforms. Visual SourceSafe for UNIX is part of MainWin Studio, the complete set of cross-platform development tools that enable a software developer to extend an application written to the Microsoft Windows API onto all major UNIX platforms.

Visual SourceSafe for UNIX is available for DEC Alpha AXP Digital UNIX, HP 9000/700 HP-UX, IBM RS/6000 AIX, x86 SCO UNIX, SGI MIPS IRIX, Sun SPARC Solaris, Sun SPARC SunOS, and x86 Solaris platforms.
