Mainsaver Now Supports Microsoft's System Management Server; For Easy Management of Software Distribution.

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1998-- Mainsaver, a leading computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) provider, now supports Microsoft's Systems Management Server, a key component in Microsoft's Zero Administration Initiative for Windows.

Systems Management Server provides easy, centralized management of software distribution and upgrades spanning large, often geographically dispersed installations. The centralization of this function, whether it affects a few machines or tens of thousands of PCs, significantly lowers system management costs.

Robert Mendez, Mainsaver development manager, said: "Our customers expressed a need for easy software deployment to multiple PCs, and I think we came up with the best response. We're the first CMMS provider to offer Microsoft System Management Server compatibility, which avoids the expense of modifying the architecture to facilitate software distribution. Mainsaver's approach is a very cost-effective and timely solution, and it has already been incorporated into the current 5.1 release of Mainsaver."

Mainsaver supports both normal- and silent-mode installations, providing options of manual or totally automatic distribution, respectively, for Mainsaver installations and upgrades. In addition, Mainsaver's integration with Systems Management Server enables centralized hardware and software inventory and remote diagnostics. The system is highly scalable and integrates with Microsoft's Back Office and major enterprise management solutions.

Mainsaver, who announced in August 1998 that ERP provider DataWorks had acquired an interest in the company, offers a client/server CMMS that operates in Windows on PC clients to access an SQL database on the server. The software is modular in design, based upon three primary Maintenance, Materials and Purchasing modules. Users can also select from a broad offering of additional modules and features.

Mainsaver provides complete solutions for maintenance organizations. Services include consulting and project management, engineering assistance, systems integration and customization, on-site and classroom training, a support hotline, conferences and user groups. With headquarters in Woodland Hills, the company can be found on the Web at
