Mailbox: We don't need this violence.

Byline: M. Peacock

WE live in a violent enough society without weirdo Americans coming across here and cutting off their ears in public. OK, US magician David Blaine was just doing a publicity stunt. But was there any need to have blood spurting all over the place? -Mrs T.L. Cooper, Kilmarnock.

WHAT is the point of David Blaine having himself suspended in a glass box over the River Thames for 44 days? It is obviously just a trick and a pretty dull one at that. He bored Americans by aimlessly standing on top of a pillar for days on end. Now he is across here to send us all to sleep. -M. Peacock, East Kilbride.
