(NASDAQ:MAIL), a leading Messaging Service Provider (MSP) to businesses and end users, announced today it has partnered with OUTERCURVE technologies(TM), a leading provider of wireless applications and services, to provide access to their e-mail accounts through wireless PDAs, beginning with the RIM Blackberry(TM) (NASDAQ:RIMM; TSE:RIM), pager device.
Under the agreement, users in the U.S. and Canada will have two-way access to their e-mail accounts giving them the ability to send and receive messages using their Mail.com branded wireless pagers. They will also have access to other customized Internet applications through Outercurve's proprietary middleware solution using over-the-air-programming (OTAP) technology. Outercurve's wireless applications built for PDAs can access the full power of the embedded processor, while retaining full compatibility with existing standards such as WML, XML and Java. This technology maximizes the limited memory inherent in today's PDAs, freeing users from their desktops and allowing efficient application downloads over the air.
