Byline: Blair Jenkins

SELINA SCOTT is entitled to her opinions on BBC programmes But what she should do is respect the facts. Reporting Scotland does not have ``flagging ratings''. The average audience this year is 516,000 up from 489,000 for the equivalent period last year and 2002 was an increase on 2001.

Reporting Scotland has by some margin the biggest audience in Scotland of any newsprogramme on any channel at any time, The average lead over the combined total for the ITV regional news programme now exceeds 100,000 viewers.

Last year, Reporting Scotland was judged the best regional TV news programme in Europe from more than 300 entries from 38 countries.

Comment is free but facts are sacred.
