Magic pulls a tough draw.

Byline: Michael Fortune

THE luck of the draw has an amazing way of acting and it has produced a corker of a second semi-final in the Caledonia Smooth Gold Cup at Drumbo Park on Saturday, writes Michael Fortune.

The three fastest second round winners are all drawn together and the other three runners are no slouches either. With six inside seeds it effectively means that the break will be of the utmost importance.

Sharon Hurley recently travelled the length of Ireland four times in winning the Langton House Derby at Kilkenny with Burst of Magic and he is now hot on the trail of another notable victory.

The 28.50sec fastest heat winner last weekend has drawn trap five in a heat where 28.53sec winner China Special will wear the same red jacket he wore last week and 28.60sec scorer Mays Milan will wear the stripes.

The other heat winner Moorlands Chriss will be a hot fancy for the opening heat where he has been drawn in two.

DRAW for Saturday's semi-finals Heat 1: 1 Brisbane Bound, 2 Moorlands Chriss, 3 Fane Blur, 4 Ruthless Man, 5 Star Head, 6 Gizmo Classic (w). Heat 2: 1 China Special, 2 Swanley Champ, 3 Paradise Martin, 4 Farloe Papa, 5 Burst Of Magic, 6 Mays Milan.
