Mafia don fights boot in London.

Byline: Nick Dorman

A MAFIA man was seized by police in Britain yesterday after Italy issued a fresh European arrest warrant for him.

Domenico Rancadore, 65, appeared before Westminster magistrates.

He was described as "one of the heads of one of the most powerful mafia associations in Italy" by lawyers. Rancadore was remanded in custody while he fights extradition.

Rancadore, known as the Professor, fled Sicily 20 years ago where he was sentenced in his absence to seven years for his mafia connections and acts.

He was living under the name Marc Skinner with his wife and two children in Uxbridge, West London.

Last month a judge reversed a decision to extradite Rancadore, hearing he would not survive prison because of his heart. The new warrant gives assurances about the conditions he would face.
