Machete trio chased driver after smash; IN BRIEF.

WITNESSES reported seeing men armed with machetes chasing someone following a car crash in a Birkby street.

Residents of Arnold Avenue said the armed occupants of a car abandoned the vehicle in order to chase a person on foot.

The car was left in the middle of the residential street, which had cars parked on both sides, so traffic was totally blocked for a time during Wednesday evening.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after and later said the incident had been a road traffic collision.

A spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a two-car road traffic collision at 8.16pm to Arnold Avenue.

"No-one was injured. "Drivers made off from the scene." Anyone who may have witnessed the incident can call police on 101 or via the Live Chat options at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101LiveChat and quote log number 1775 of 3 July.
