Business services company Nuance Communications Inc (NASDAQ:NUAN) reported on Tuesday that it has acquired MacSpeech, a provider of speech recognition solutions for Apple Macintosh computers.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Nuance, which provides speech and imaging solutions for businesses and consumers, said that this acquisition will allow the company to extend the Dragon NaturallySpeaking family of products to Mac users as a native Mac application.

Nuance also believes that it will be positioned to accelerate the growth opportunity for MacSpeech products by adding more research and development support.
