MacLeod on top to see off UAE; IN ASSOCIATION WITH.

Byline: GREIG THOMAS

CALUM MacLEOD hit a century as Scotland stepped-up their World Cup qualifying bid with victory over UAE.

After a rain delay at Queenstown, New Zealand, MacLeod launched a searing assault to score 113 from just 62 balls.

It helped the Scots reach 265-6 against a previously unbeaten side with the UAE bowled out for 212.

A win over Canada on Wednesday will seal a Super Six place and MacLeod said: "Everything we tried came off.

"We had a bit of luck - hitting the ball just over fielders - but that's going to happen in an innings like that."

MacLeod, right, and Matty Cross put on 178 for the first wicket in just 17.3 overs. Cross hit 10 fours and three maximums in his 88 off 60 balls.
