MYKEY TO CAR SAFETY.

Byline: Richard Hammond

FORD has developed a system that stops incoming calls and text messages while driving.

MyKey is being promoted as a safety feature to help parents keep their children safe on the road.

It also allows the user to limit top speed to 80mph, control audio volume and uses Bluetooth to command the phone functions. All good in theory, but why focus on youngsters? I see loads of older drivers on the phone.

As usual, young drivers are being singled out as villains and driven off the road.

The MyKey system debuts on the Fiesta next year and will be offered on other Ford models later in 2012.
