 MVMA REPORTS DECEMBER TRUCK PRODUCTION
 DETROIT, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Franchised dealers of U.S. truck


manufacturers sold 328,803 units in December, according to a preliminary report issued today by the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association of the United States, Inc. (MVMA).
 Retail sales for the month of December ran 13 percent above the 291,083 units sold for the month a year ago. This marks the highest December since 1988, when 363,646 trucks were sold.
 December sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4,191,000 units, a 15-percent increase from the December 1990 seasonally adjusted rate of 3,643,000 units.

 Class IV -- 14,001-16,000 lbs.;
 Class V -- 16,001-19,500 lbs.;
 Class VI -- 19,501-26,000 lbs.;
 Class VII is 26,001-33,000 lbs.
 Heavy-Duty Trucks:
 Class VIII -- 33,001 lbs. and over.
