MUTA demands action against official indicted in cyber crime.

HYDERABAD: The Mehran University Teachers Association (MUTA) has demanded of administration of the university to take disciplinary action against Deputy Director Students Financial Aid Kashif Dars who has been arrested by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a cyber crime case.

A general body meeting of MUTA was held in Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, on Friday which demanded that the case against Dars should be referred to the syndicate for necessary action.

The association's President Prof Abbass Mahar said MUTA wanted action against Dars in order to avoid recurrence of such type of activities on the social media in the future which defame the university's administrative officials and faculty.

The MUTA asked the varsity's administration to pursue the case with the FIA and to ensure that Dars if found guilty of the offence was brought to the book.

Dars, according to the FIA registered FIR on complaint of Assistant Public Relations Officer Ashfaq Laghari, allegedly uploaded defamatory content and abusive images on a Facebook ID named "Nighat Huma".

On complaint of Laghari, which was filed on March 25, the FIA began the investigation and, subsequently, traced Dars through his mobile number to be the operator of Huma's ID.

Dars was arrested on May 21 by FIA Karachi.
